Simulation 2: Caleb Terbush

Terbush’s game against FCS East didn’t go nearly as smoothly as Marve’s, not because of his play, however. The Boilers won 38-21, though getting outscored 14-0 in the fourth quarter makes the game look closer than it was.

The Boilers jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter of this simulation, with Terbush passing to Edison from 8 yards out and Paul Griggs kicking it in from 35 yards out. The Boilers made it 17-0 with 12:02 remaining when Ralph Bolden ran it in from four yards out, then gave up their first points of the day on a 28-yard pass to make it 17-7. Purdue struck once more in the half with an 85-yard bomb from Terbush to O.J. Ross with just under three minutes left in the quarter to go into halftime up 24-7.

Shavers scored on an 11-yard pass from Terbush with 11:09 left in the third and Bolden scored again on a 4-yard run with 5:23 to go to wrap up the Boilers’ scoring for the day.

Terbush finished with 336 yards on 19-of-32 passing and a 178.5 QB rating. His three TDs with no interceptions bolstered his numbers. The 85-yard pass to Ross was his long of the day. He was sacked twice. Terbush added 12 runs for 60 yards to his totals. All of this earned him Player of the Game honors.

As a backup, MArve was 2-for-4 for 20 yards.

The Boilers racked up a total of 530 yards, with 174 yards coming on 37 rushes and 356 yards coming through the air on 21-of-36 passing. Purdue’s defense surrendered 285 yards, including 160 yards on 37 rushes and 125 yards on 10-of-21 passing. Neither team committed a turnover.

Read on to see if Rob Henry lead the Boilers to victory as well.
