Cliff Avril followed up his goose egg from last week with a two tackle, one quarterback hit performance in a close victory over the Denver Broncos. The Seattle Seahawks’ defense made sure to force Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning to pass into their dangerous secondary by taking away the Denver rushing game completely.

On 20 rushes the Broncos finished with 36 total yards, a 1.8 yards per carry performance. But Seattle’s secondary didn’t respond as well to the challenge giving up 303 yards and two touchdowns, including a 26-yard pass to tight end Jacob Tamme with 18 seconds to go and then a 2-yard pass to Demaryius Thomas for the 2-point conversion which tied the game.

This is what Avril had to say about taking away the rushing game to the Seattle Times:

"“So we just pinned our ears back and tried to get after the quarterback,” defensive end Cliff Avril said."

Avril now has four tackles and one sack for the season. The Seahawks have a bye week next week.
