Purdue Football NCAA 13 Season Simulation: Week 2
By Zach Langdon
Simulation 1: Robert Marve
Marve struggled the most of the three Purdue quarterbacks in his week one matchup, so he went into Notre Dame with something to prove.
He came out playing like it, as he responded to Notre Dame’s opening drive touchdown by scoring the next three and going into halftime up 21-14. Marve connected on passes to Gary Bush (16 yards), Akeem Shavers (10 yards) and Antavian Edison (4 yards) to give the Boilers a 21-7 lead with 8:24 to go in the half. Notre Dame QB Everett Golson’s six yard scamper brought the Irish within one possession just before halftime.
Unfortunately, that’s as good as it go for the Boilermakers. Notre Dame scored 21 points in the third quarter and another 13 in the fourth to win 48-21.
Marve was 17-41 on the day for 195 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He was sacked three times and ran the ball a team-high 13 times, totaling 22 yards. Akeem Shavers led the team in rushing, with 66 yards on 12 carries. He did, however, have the team’s only fumble.
Antavian Edison led the Boilers with 103 yards receiving on seven catches. Shavers was second, with four catches for 37 yards. Gary Bush also had 37 yards, except he only needed three catches to do it.
Dwayne Beckford led the way defensively, totaling nine tackles, including one sack and one fumble recovery. Kawaan Short had seven tackles and a sack.
Cody Webster punted 10 times for 410 yards.
