The Boiling Point: Two defensive tackles earn honors from Big Ten.
On the heels of Purdue’s big win against Ohio State, two Boilers picked up weekly conference awards. Junior defensive tackle Kawann Short was named co-Defensive Player of the Week in the Big Ten and sophomore defensive tackle Bruce Gaston earned co-Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Short notched a career-high three sacks and recorded six total tackles in the overtime win. He also won the award in late October.
Gaston blocked a potential game-winning extra point to force the extra session. The last time a Boiler earned this award was Short back in October of 2010.
