The Boiling Point: Defensive lineman Kawann Short was named the Big Ten’s Co-Defensive Player Of The Week

Kawann Short was named the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Week after recording 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks against Illinois. He finished with six total tackles in the Boilers’ upset of then-No.23 Illinois.

The last Purdue Defensive Player of the Week was, shockingly, Ryan Kerrigan on Nov. 15, 2010. This is Short’s first Defensive Player of the Week award, but he has won Special Teams Player of the Week (Oct. 11, 2010).

Penn State’s Gerald Hodges also received the award this week.
