Purdue Still Recruiting Willis

The Boiling Point: Despite reports that Purdue would be done recruiting Derek Willis when he decommitted, Purdue is still very much involved in his recruitment.

After Derek Willis’ quick verbal to Purdue, who had recruited him for less than a year, and then prompt decommitment, many thought Purdue would be done trying to lure the top-20 forward to West Lafayette. Apparently, that isn’t the case:

"“Bullitt East junior Derek Willis has changed his plans. The former Purdue commitment won’t visit Kentucky for Big Blue Madness, opting instead to take in the University of Louisville’s scrimmage on Friday night."

"His father, Del, said the family will then make a visit to Purdue on Saturday before stopping in Bloomington, Ind., on Saturday night for Indiana’s Hoosier Hysteria.”"

Now, as we’ve all learned with Willis, you have to take everything his father says with a grain of salt. That said, we do know that Painter and an assistant were at his school this week to watch him work out, and he IS a solid recruit, so I doubt Purdue would just simply tell him to get lost.
