Story Looks Back At Hummel’s Injuries, Ahead To Season
By Zach Langdon
The Boiling Point: The Journal & Courier’s Jeff Washburn wrote a detailed story on Robbie Hummel’s injuries and recoveries for today’s paper.
The Journal & Courier’s Jeff Washburn sat down with several people to talk about Robbie Hummel’s life over the last year and a half, including the star Purdue forward, for a detailed story that ran in today’s paper. I encourage everyone to read it, but if you don’t have time here are some quotes to kind of summarize.
"On the second injury:“My parents got there, and it was really sad,” Hummel said. “I went to my apartment and watched the football game and got to hear Bob Griese announce on TV that I hurt my knee. It was definitely a rough day.”"
"On all the injuries he’s dealt with at Purdue:“In high school, I never had hardships to deal with. I missed one game with a concussion, but otherwise, I didn’t even have a sprained ankle. Then I got to college, and it was like the wheels fell off.”"
"The opponent perspective:“Everybody is pulling for Robbie,” Michigan State’s Draymond Green said. “He plays so hard and is an extremely hard worker. I definitely want to see him back on the court. Especially with a competitor like Robbie, you never want to see anybody go down with injuries like he has suffered.“For me, and for everyone in the Big Ten, it’s great to have him back. He will (present) a good challenge for us and for everyone who has to guard him. With all the hard work he has put in, I’m sure he will be the same player that he was, if not an even better player.”"
