The Boiling Point: A couple things on the Purdue football front.

What is probably old news, but its a slow day, Purdue picked up two commitments the past two days for football. Dion Witty(CB) and Cameron Cermin(OL) pledged to the Boilers, making them the 18th and 19th known commitments for 2012. Both were on official visits this past weekend for the Notre Dame game. Here is Dion Witty’s Rivals profile and here is Cameron Cermin’s profile. Even with two commitments not having “stars” yet (they’re JUCO), currently this class is ranked in the 30’s nationally and is by far Purdue’s best recruiting class since 2005. Purdue is also in play for numerous other high ranking players. If Danny Hope ends up being let go, can it just happen after signing day? He was able to get Auburn commit Zeke Pike(QB) on campus this weekend and based on his Twitter he had a great time.

In other news, GoldandBlack.com tweeted that highly touted defensive tackle transfer Calvin Smith is no longer with the team. There was a report in The Exponent (Purdue’s student newspaper) that named a Calvin Smith in burglary charges.
