Harris Sets Three Visits

The Boiling Point: Standout 2012 basketball recruit Gary Harris solidifies visits.
Big-time 2012 basketball recruit Gary Harris’ recruitment is starting to pick up. Harris has set up official visits to three schools, including Purdue, and a new school might be in the mix for his services.
According to Scout.com, Harris is headed to West Lafayette the weekend of the Purdue-Notre Dame football game, which is Oct. 1. That’s going to be a huge recruiting weekend for Purdue’s athletic department as a slew of football and basketball targets will be on campus.
After that he’s headed to Indiana for its annual Hoosier Hysteria on Oct. 15. Word is that event was moved to accommodate Harris, who has a football game the Friday before. No doubt a bit shady. The final of the three is Michigan State on Nov. 5. Harris did mention that he could commit at any time.
"“If I feel like one of those early visits is the place I want to be and I am sure about it, I will make that decision, but who knows I could go past the early period. It just depends on how I feel after I make my official visits.”"
Also, Louisville coach Rick Pitino has planned an in-home visit with Harris on Sept. 1 and that could lead to an official visit, too. Coming somewhat out of the blue is Stanford, though. Harris mentioned the Cardinal as being a serious suitor, but no visit has been planned.
Harris’ recruitment has been a cross country race, not a sprint, but one would think Purdue coach Matt Painter wouldn’t want Harris leaving Purdue without a verbal commitment knowing a couple other visits are still on the table. It should be interesting.
