Anthrop Gets Scholarship

The Boiling Point: Dru Anthrop receives scholarship for basketball.

Purdue guard Dru Anthrop has received a basketball scholarship for the 2011-2012 school year. When Patrick Bade left the basketball team to join the football team it opened up the scholarship.  With no one year transfer candidates left to join Purdue for one season, it left the spot open for the 6 foot walk-on.  Here’s what he told the Lafayette Journal & Courier:

"“I was hoping this might happen, but until I got the call, I wasn’t about to assume it would happen,” Anthrop said Saturday night. “Of course, I’m excited. How could I not be? It’s what every athlete hopes for. I’m very appreciative and grateful”"

This also helps with the scholarship situation for 2012 and 2013. By not taking another recruit for this season, it won’t create more of a logjam than there already is.  Could be even more of a logjam if Purdue gets commitments from Gary Harris or AJ Hammons; potentially both.
