The Boiling Point: David Boudia wins silver medal at FNA Swimming World Championships.

Former Purdue diver David Boudia won a silver medal in men’s 10-meter platform diving this past Sunday.  Boudia is in Shanghai, China participating with Team USA in the FNA Swimming World Championships. He had a score of 544.25 points, second to the 585.45 points that China’s Qui Bo earned. Boudia also had at least 83.20 points in each of his 6 dives. He told the Lafayette Journal and Courier:

"“Today I dove exactly how I wanted to,” Boudia said. “I was confident and wasn’t worried about anything but my own dives. I went six-for-six on my dives, and I had so much fun out there with my teammates cheering me on. It was an amazing experience, and I’m so honored to represent the United States.”"

Boudia was the first American male to medal in 10-meter platform diving in 25 years. At the 2009 FNA Swimming World Championships he finished 6th and in 2007 he finished 27th.  Boudia was also named the Big Ten Male Athlete of the Year early this summer.
