Purdue Gets 8th Commit

The Boiling Point: Purdue gets their 8th football commitment.

Jimmy Herman has become Purdue’s 8th commitment for the football team’s 2012 recruiting class..  Last night his profile on ESPN.com had him as a verbal to Purdue.  Official word came today on Twitter from GoldandBlack.com.  The 6’3″ 205lb Herman hails from Carmel, IN.  He projects as a linebacker in college assuming he bulks up.  He committed over offers from Western Michigan, Harvard, and Northwestern with Indiana showing interest.

Herman is the second linebacker for this 2012, joining Steffon Martin who committed last week.  Herman looks to be a quick, physical player who knows how to tackle effectively(scoff at that description but tackling is a problem with Purdue the last couple years).  He also has the flexibility to play multiple positions. If he doesn’t bulk up he could potentially play safety.
