Purdue Linebackers Ranked 8th

The Boiling Point: Purdue’s linebackers ranked 8th in the Big Ten.

Dwayne Beckford

ESPN Big Ten football blogger Brian Bennett came out with his rankings of the Big Ten’s linebackers.  Purdue’s group came in at 8th.  Not at terribly surprising ranking.  It’s a young, talented unit, but inexperienced.  Joe Holland is the main contributor, but I’ve never been that impressed with him. Have always thought he’d be a better fit at safety (before bulking up for line backer).  Dwayne Beckford has been solid and could have a break out year; if possible after having the second most tackles on the team last year.  Will Lucas looks to be the real deal and was all over the place when on the field last year.  JUCO transfer Kaulana Judd will bring some hard hitting toughness to the unit as well.  Here is what Bennett had to say:

"8. Purdue: The Boilermakers are led by senior Joe Holland, who has 35 career starts under his belt. Junior Dwayne Beckford finished second on the team with 85 tackles a year ago. Will Lucas could break out after an excellent true freshman campaign. Senior Chris Carlino adds veteran depth."
