How Do JJ and E’Twaun Fit In With The Boston Celtics?
The Boiling Point: A look at how JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore fit with Boston Celtics
Well, looks like JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore will be teammates again. Both have been taken by the Boston Celtics. Johnson was the first Boilermaker drafted in the first round since Glenn Robinson in 1994. Moore was taken in the second round by the Celtics. This is the first time since 1988 that Purdue has had two players get drafted. Boston has already said they will be keeping JJ and Moore.
JaJuan Johnson
There are few better situations, if there are any at all, than what JJ landed in. He gets to be mentored by a perennial all-star in Kevin Garnett, and learn the NBA ropes by veterans Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. JJ immediately gets to see what it is like to play for a championship contender on the next level. The Celtics are short on post players, so you can expect JJ to get lots of minutes early. Shaquille O’Neal retired and Jermaine O’Neal is falling apart as the only true post player left on the team besides Garnett. Glen Davis is a free agent. Celtics may have gotten the heir-apparent to Garnett.
E’Twaun Moore
So when I said JJ landed in a perfect situation, it looks like Moore has as well. He will be mentored by one of the best shooting guards in the league in Ray Allen. As the roster is now he will be competing with Avery Bradley and Carlos Arroyo for playing time behind Allen. Delonte West and Von Wafer are free agents. When Moore is showing he is defending and knocking down shots consistently he will see playing time increase. If the Celtics sign some guards in free agency, don’t be surprised if he starts out in the NBA D-League, as unfair as that might be since I think he can compete in the NBA.
It is a great night for Purdue, but most importantly for JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore. Will make it easy to see them playing together when they come to a city near you.
