Another Kicker Pledges To 2012 Class

The Boiling Point: Purdue added its second kicker to the 2012 football recruiting class on Thursday.
The span of two days, Purdue’s search for its next kicker(s) came to a close. Just a day after Thomas Meadows verbally committed to football coach Danny Hope, North Carolina place-kicker Paul Griggs also joined the 2012 recruiting class.
“Right off the bat, Coach (J.B.) Gibboney and the draw that he brings to the program, being a (former) kicker himself and the knowledge that he brings,” Griggs told GoldandBlackIllustrated.com. “He has the expertise to be able to coach the position, which I think is invaluable to the program.”
With senior kicker Carson Wiggs off the roster next year, Purdue was expected to add at least one kicker. It appears that Griggs will handle kickoffs and field goals with Meadows being mainly a punter.
Griggs had a solid junior season. He made 8-of-11 field goals, including a school-record 48-yarder. He also had offers from Rutgers and Yale, while getting interest from Connecticut, Duke, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. He is the fourth member of the 2012 class for Purdue.
