Mackey Arena Gets Noticed

The Boiling Point: After Purdue went 16-0 after home this past season, someone is taking notice of how tough it is to play at Mackey Arena.
Every Purdue fans knows how raucous old school Mackey Arena can get. Well, it appears other are taking notice again since the Boilers have returned to national relevance. According to Jason King’s blog on Yahoo! sports, Mackey Arena is one of the top 10 toughest places to play in the country.
Here’s what he said.
"Mackey Arena, Purdue – The Boilermakers home isn’t as flashy or gaudy as some of the more modern, updated venues. But that gives it character. Purdue’s student section is highly underrated in terms of rowdiness and passion. The Boilermakers went 16-0 at home last season and defeated a pair of top 10 teams (Ohio State and Wisconsin) in the same week."
He cautioned that the list is fluid from year to year. Others on the list are Allen Fieldhouse (Kansas), Cameron Indoor Stadium (Duke) and the Kohl Center (Wisconsin). Purdue and Wisconsin were the only Big Ten schools to make his list of 10.
