2014 Wideman Picks Up Purdue Offer

The Boiling Point: Lake Central freshman picks up Purdue offer.

Purdue basketball coach Matt Painter has been recruiting Lake Central 6-foot-6 freshman Tyler Wideman since he was in eighth grade and that turned into a scholarship offer this week. Wideman picked up the offer in an unofficial visit to campus.

Wideman is a physical body in the paint. He’s also visited Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. Being just a freshman, he said he’s got no idea when he will be making a decision, but he’s most familiar with Purdue at this point.

He scored 13 points in his AAU team’s win on Friday in a tournament in Bloomington, Ind.
