The Boiling Point: Comments regarding the recent hire of former Butler assistant Micah Shrewsberry.

After Purdue made the hiring of men’s basketball assistant Micah Shrewsberry official on Tuesday, Purdue coach Matt Painter, Butler coach Brad Stevens and Shrewsberry all commented on the move. Here’s what they had to say.

"“Micah Shrewsberry is hard-working, energetic and passionate, three qualities that we hold at the core of our program,” Painter said. “He knows the landscape of college basketball in the Midwest, and particularly in the state of Indiana. We’re excited for him to get started at Purdue.”"

And Shrewsberry…

"“I’m excited for the opportunity to work at Purdue and for a coach in Matt Painter who has accomplished so much at different levels,” Shrewsberry said. “It’s a great time for Purdue basketball with the Mackey Project nearing completion and a bright future ahead. I’m excited to help the program continue to move in a positive direction.”"

Finally, Stevens, who had Shrewsberry on his staff the past couple seasons.

"“As a coach, it’s always bittersweet to lose someone from your staff,” Stevens said. “But we’re excited that Micah has the chance to pursue another good opportunity with really good people.”"

Shrewsberry will be Painter’s top assistant moving forward.
