Purdue Basketball Fills One Assistant Spot
The Boiling Point: Butler assistant Micah Shrewsberry will be hired to join the men’s basketball team this week.
According to a report from GoldandBlackIllustrated.com, Micah Shrewsberry will be hired for one of the assistant coaching spots on the men’s basketball team. The past four seasons Shrewsberry has been an assistant coach at Butler. He is an Indianapolis native and played at Cathedral High School.
The other name being linked to the other vacancy was IPFW coach Dane Fife. Fife has withdrawn his name from consideration.
The two spots became open after associate head coach Paul Lusk was hired as the lead man at Missouri State and Mike Jackson resigned following a suspension related to drunk driving.
Shrewsberry looks to be an excellent hire for Purdue. Obviously he is coming from a team that has made the national title game the past two years. Also, it seems as though he was the lead recruiter at Butler on many Purdue targets, including 2012 PG Ronnie Johnson.
