The Boiling Point: Purdue recently added its first lineman recruit of the 2011 football class.

After not signing a single lineman in this year’s recruiting class, Purdue football coach Danny Hope added one recently. On Monday, Hope announced that offensive tackle Matt Huene signed to play for the Boilers. Huene spent the past year at the United States Air Force Academy Prep School and will have five years to complete his four years of eligibility in West Lafayette.

"“We’re excited to have Matt join us,” Hope said in a press release. “We didn’t have a true offensive tackle talent sign with us back in February and he really fits the prototype at that position. He is also an excellent student. I’ve stated that I like to hold back a scholarship or two in the event an unsigned prospect comes along, and that is certainly the case with Matt.”"

The 6-foot-6, 260-pound Huene was a three-sport athlete at Prospect High School in Mount Prospect, Ill., before attending the academy to continue his development. Purdue offered him a walk-on opportunity the first time around.

Here’s a video of Huene in action.
