Keady Relieved Painter Stayed At Purdue

The Boiling Point: Former Purdue coach Gene Keady was pleased to hear Matt Painter reached an agreement to stay in West Lafayette.
The announcement of Matt Painter staying at Purdue made more than just Purdue basketball fans happy. It pleased Purdue legend Gene Keady, who handpicked Painter to be his successor.
"“Oh, man, that’s relief,” Keady told the Indianapolis Star when told. “I think it’s the right thing to do. It’s a better job.“Now it’s up to Purdue to give him the leadership and foundation he needs to be a national champion. It’s up to Purdue now.”"
Painter agreed to a contract extension that runs through the 2018-19 season.
