Bubba Day Faces Shabazz In Final Four
By Zach Langdon
The Boiling Point: Bubba Day has advanced to the Final Four of ESPN’s coolest name tournament.
No. 15-seed Bubba has lived to see another Day (ha, see what I did there?). The Purdue guard has advanced to the Final Four of ESPN’s Coolest Name Tournament, but a true challenge awaits in the stellarly-named No. 8-seed Shabazz Napier from UConn. Voting for this round ends Thursday at 10 p.m.
Day will hope to overcome the adversity of his coach potentially leaving his team in the middle of this tough tournament and beat Napier to advance to the finals, where either Scoop Jardine or Fab Melo, both of Syracuse, will await.
"Bubba Day, Purdue (No. 15 seed, Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje region champion): Day is a walk-on guard from West Lafayette, Ind., who played 16 minutes as a junior for his hometown Boilermakers. The perimeter specialist and management major went off to the tune of three points each in Purdue’s wins over Austin Peay and IPFW."
