Gene Keady Interviewed About Painter Situation

The Boiling Point: Former Purdue coach Gene Keady was interviewed on The Drive with JMV on ESPN 1070AM of Indianapolis on the Purdue coaching situation.

Gene Keady was on the JMV show today on ESPN 1070am out of Indianapolis, where he talked about his time with St. John’s as well as the Matt Painter situation. Here are a couple quotes I got down as he was talking, before his phone apparently died:

"“I don’t (think he’ll leave), but you never say never, but I just think he’s going to stay here. They’re going to find ways to keep him here.”"

"“Well, that’s (the factors outside of money that Painter wants) up to the administration and the president. I don’t have any handle on that. I just wish they’d pull for him. I think Matt just wants assurance that he’ll be able to compete with the best in the nation.”"

"“I don’t think the money has as much to do with it as other things assuring him to be able to compete with the best in the nation. Whatever that means to him, he has to figure taht out. The money is important, but I don’t think its the key factor.”"

The show went to break and they were trying to get Gene back on, so more may be coming. Regardless, I’ll link the audio as soon as it is up on the 1070 site.
