Boudia Wins Fifth NCAA Championship
By Zach Langdon
The Boiling Point: Purdue’s David Boudia came from behind to win his fifth NCAA Championship Thursday, this one in 1-meter diving.
Man, David Boudia is just a force. He won his fifth NCAA championship Thursday, this one in one-meter diving, after trailing through the preliminaries and part of the finals. Dude is just a wrecking ball, probably one of the top five athletes in Purdue history, and most people wouldn’t even know who he was if they sat beside him in class.
Seriously, how many NCAA titles did Drew Brees win? Rick Mount? Those guys were idols on campus, and they didn’t win much at all compared to Boudia. I mean, Robbie Hummel basically has panties thrown at him just for walking down the street, and yet Boudia just goes unnoticed and he’s been on the US Olympic team since he was 16. What were you doing when you were 16? I like basketball and football as much as the next guy, but respect to David.
Boudia’s next challenge is in the 3-meter, which starts today.
