The Boiling Point: Purdue associate head coach Paul Lusk not interested in NIU.

Purdue associate head coach Paul Lusk was a final candidate for the Northern Illinois coaching job, but removed his name from contention on Tuesday. It appeared like Lusk was the front-runner for the job, too. Lusk came to Purdue from Southern Illinois with Matt Painter and took on the associate title in 2008 when Rick Ray left.

It’s been speculated that Lusk is in position to get several coaching jobs if he wants them. Clearly he doesn’t want the NIU gig, which would take over for Ricardo Patton, who was fired earlier this month. Lusk has also been connected to the opening job at Bradley. Whether he chooses not to pursue any other jobs is unclear at this point.
