The Boiling Point: An ESPN.com writer breaks down Purdue’s Southwest Region in the NCAA Tournament.

Here are some highlights pulled from ESPN.com’s Eamonn Brennan’s breakdown of the Southwest Region of the NCAA Tournament.

-He likes Kansas’ draw based on the potential match-ups for the Jayhawks. He does note that Notre Dame and Purdue are two tough opponents as the No. 2 and 3 seeds.

-How good will Georgetown’s Chris Wright be? The guard was cleared on Sunday night after breaking his hand four games ago. Since then, the Hoyas have scored an average of 53 points a game in three losses.

-Richmond got robbed with its 12 seed. The Spiders were never in trouble of making the tourney, yet the 12 seed denotes some type of weakness in their resume.

-Vanderbilt got a tough draw. It’s not the 5 seed that’s a big deal, but facing Richmond in the first round. Whereas West Virginia, also a 5, gets a crack at the winner of UAB/Clemson.

-Obviously, Purdue and Notre Dame enjoyed their placement given that it’s just up the road in Chicago.

-As cool as it will be to have both Purdue and Notre Dame playing in Chicago, if the two win their first two games, they will meet in San Antonio, not Chicago. Think about what that atmosphere in the United Center would have been like with the Boilers facing the Irish.

-Morehead State’s Kenneth Faried is his top player to watch. Faried owns the Division I rebounding record after passing Tim Duncan earlier this season.
