The Boiling Point: Yahoo! Sports has named JaJuan Johnson first-team All-American.

The first of what is sure to be many awards for JaJuan Johnson came today. Rivals/Yahoo! has named JJ first team All American.

"F JaJuan Johnson, Purdue, senior – The analysts who wrote off Purdue after Robbie Hummel’s preseason knee injury clearly underestimated Johnson, who averaged 20.5 points and 8.1 rebounds for a Boilermakers squad that is 25-6 and finished second in the Big Ten with a record of 14-4. The 6-foot-10 Johnson is as lethal from the perimeter as he in the paint, and his ability to run the court like a guard often leads to easy baskets. Purdue is a Final Four contender because of Johnson, who scored 20 or more points in 18 games."

Rounding out the first team were Marcus Morris-Kansas, Jared Sullinger-O$U, Jimmer Fredette–BYU and Nolan Smith-Duke. They obviously didn’t take natural positions into account since JJ, Morris, and Sullinger all play post positions. Their National Coach of the Year was Mike Brey of Notre Dame.

Jordan Taylor-Wisconsin made the second team. Jon Leur-Wisconsin and E’Twaun Moore were both honorable mentions. The Big Ten awards show is tonight on Big Ten Network at 7 p.m. EST.
