The Boiling Point: Take a look at where the Boilers’ baseball team is at this season.


Lost in the attention to the Purdue basketball team’s success has been the start of the baseball season. This looks to be one of Purdue’s best teams in recent years. They currently sit at 6-2 including a win over #10 UCONN during the Big East/Big Ten challenge. Right now they are on a trip through Tennessee, spending this weekend playing a series versus Lipscomb. They return to West Lafayette March 22nd to face Illinois State.

1B/OF Angelo Cianfrocco earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors for his performance last week. He was 10-for-16 with four extra-base hits, five RBIs and eight runs scored. He reached based safely 13 out of his 19 plate appearances.

Purdue currently leads The Big Ten in team batting average at .379. The Boilers’ record is their best start since 2000, when when they started 6-1. They play at 5pm est today at Lipscomb, and wrap up their series with them tomorrow before heading to play at Louisville for one game on March 8th.
