Gene Keady: Hired at Purdue in 1980 and coached for 25 years, retiring in 2005. Currently he is an adviser for Steve Lavin at St. John’s.
Bruce Weber: Served as assistant under Gene Keady at Western Kentucky for one year then for 18 at Purdue. Hired at Southern Illinois in 1998, where he had Matt Painter as an assistant. He is currently at Illinois where he has been since 2003.
Kevin Stallings: Assistant coach at Purdue under Keady for six years from 1982-1988. Currently head coach at Vanderbilt.
Steve Lavin: Assistant coach at Purdue under Keady from 1988-1991. After coaching at UCLA, he worked for ESPN and got hired as St. John’s head coach this year. He brought on Keady for an advisory roll.
Alan Major: Student Manager under Keady during his undergraduate years. He has worked for Bruce Weber and Thad Matta, as well. He took over at Charlotte in 2010.
Linc Darner: He was never an assistant under Keady, but played for him with Cuonzo Martin and Matt Painter. He began coaching at Ashland University and is now the head coach at Florida Southern in Division II.
Cuonzo Martin: Assistant under Gene Keady and Matt Painter at Purdue from 2000-2008. Hired as head coach at Missouri State and led them to their first MVC title in 2010-2011. Hired as head coach at Tennessee in 2011
Matt Painter: Played for Keady while at Purdue. Worked for Bruce Weber at Southern Illinois starting in 1998 and taking over the head coaching position in 2003. Hired at Purdue in 2004 as associate head coach. Became head coach at Purdue in 2005 when Gene Keady Retired.
