The Boiling Point: Purdue senior JaJuan Johnson was named a finalist for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, an award given to the country’s best player determined by the United States Basketball Writers Association.

Hours after being named the Big Ten Player of the Week, Purdue’s athletic big man JaJuan Johnson made the list of 10 finalists for the Oscar Robertson Trophy. The honor comes from the United States Basketball Writers Association, which means the association voted Johnson as one of the nation’s Top 10 players.

Johnson is coming off a 20 point, 17 rebound and seven block performance against Michigan State in East Lansing. His two 15, 15 and five games in conference play are the first in the Big Ten since 2001.

On the year, he’s averaging 20.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks a game. Those numbers make him the league’s second-leading scorer and best shot blocker.

The award is voted on by 900 journalists and will be announced on April 1 in conjunction with the Final Four in Houston.

Here’s the complete list of finalists.
