The Boiling Point: After logging two conference road wins, including a 20-point win at Michigan State, Purdue moved up two spots in both the AP and Coaches Poll to No. 6.

All season long, Purdue has been able to win big games at crucial points of the season and it did just that with another set of victories coming in the past week. With double-digit Top 25 teams losing, including a handfull ranked in front of the Boilers, Purdue moved up two spots in both polls to settle in at No. 6 on Monday.

With so many teams losing in front of the Boilers and with their continued success, it looked like they might be able to crack the Top 5 for the first time this season. But, Pittsburgh and Duke both stayed ahead of Purdue after losses. In the AP poll, Ohio State is No. 1 with Kansas, BYU, Duke and Pittsburgh rounding out the Top 5. Duke and Pitt are tied for the fourth spot, 75 points ahead of Purdue.

The Top 5 in the coaches poll is Ohio State (27-2), Kansas (27-2), BYU (27-2), Duke (26-3) and Pittsburgh. The Boilers (24-5) are just 10 points behind Pitt for the fifth spot.

Share your thoughts. Should Purdue have jumped Pittsburgh (25-4), who’s lost twice in the past nine days, for that No. 5 spot?
