The Boiling Point: Former Boilers Ryan Kerrigan and Keith Smith invited to NFL combine

The NFL combine takes place from today through Tuesday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Draft prospects will go through a series of physical and mental tests, getting poked and prodded, and having to stand in their underwear while a room full of grown men stare at them. Sounds like a blast.

Ryan Kerrigan will for sure be participating in the combine. There’s no doubt he is going to be a first round pick, and is not looking to move up. While he has shown he has a high motor and can get after the quarterback, he is going to need to show quickness and ability to play the linebacker position if needed. If you want to watch him in his drills, linebackers and linemen work out on Monday from 9am-2pm Eastern on the NFL Network.

Keith Smith is in a unique position. He has been invited to go to the combine but he won’t be able to participate in the physical drills. Smith is still somehow waiting for the NCAA to make a decision on his eligibility for a 6th year. Still waiting on word whether he will attend the combine and do interviews or wait out for word on his eligibility.
