The Boiling Point: With two wins against Top 10 teams coming within five days, Purdue’s name is starting to get brought up when talking about No. 1 seeds for the NCAA Tournament.

A couple weeks ago when Purdue dropped its four straight road game (third of which it had a chance to win), Boiler fans were worried about an NCAA Tournament seed that might lead to another trip to the Sweet 16 and that’s it. But things have changed a lot since then.

After beating Wisconsin and Ohio State in the span of just five days, Purdue is now getting some mention of teams who could vie for a top spot in the NCAA Tournament. The CBS sports blog notes that Purdue is a long shot at a No. 1, but notes how much the Boilers have going for themselves.

"“… But the Boilers have the 11th-toughest schedule in the country, putting them tops in these digs. Purdue is 7-5 against the top 50 and 2-3 against the top 25. Only Pittsburgh’s taken on a higher dose of respectable opponents. It’ll take other teams falling around them, but the Boilermakers are now in position to make a late-season sprint toward a 1. A Big Ten tournament title is definitely part of the equation.”"

The other seven teams mentioned are San Diego State (27-1), BYU (27-2), Duke (25-2), Ohio State (25-2), Kansas (25-2), Pittsburgh (24-3) and Texas (23-4).
