Basil Smotherman Jr. Commits

The Boiling Point: A 2013 men’s basketball target, Basil Smotherman Jr, commits to the Boilers.

Purdue’s huge basketball week has gotten even bigger.

According to GoldandBlackIllustrated.com, 2013 recruit Basil Smotherman Jr. committed to Purdue. The 6-foot-5 guard/forward from Heritage Christian in Indianapolis chose the Boilers over Xavier, Illinois, Notre Dame and Indiana. His verbal comes just two days after Kendall Stephens made a pledge to Purdue.

The 2013 class is now made up of Smotherman, Stephens and Fort Wayne guard Bryson Scott. Purdue is expected to take at least one more guy to make up what should be a Top 10 class in the country. Look for a post player to be heavily recruited to round out the class. Indiana is loaded in ’13 and spots are filling up quickly. Recruits will take notice and this class could be filled by the end of the season.
