Ray Edwards May Turn To Boxing
By Zach Langdon
The Boiling Point: Former Purdue defensive end, current Minnesota Viking Ray Edwards says he’ll turn to pro boxing if the NFL has a work stoppage.
Ray Edwards told a Twin Cities newspaper he will turn to pro boxing if the NFL has a lockout. Edwards is a former Purdue defensive end and currently on the Minnesota Vikings.
"“Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards is serious about starting a professional boxing career if it becomes apparent that the 2011 NFL season will be delayed by a labor impasse.”"
This idea isn’t new to Edwards as he’s been talking about it since September of 2010. The question, however, is if the risk of injury is worth it for him. Edwards’ contract ended at the end of the 2010-11 season, though most assume the Vikings will be aggressive in trying to re-sign him.
