Report: Football Recruiting Coordinator Leaving

The Boiling Point: The offseason transitions for the football program continue with a report that long-time Purdue coach/administrator Don Coller is stepping down.

Seven months after going from supervisor of football operations to recruiting coordinator, Don Coller is leaving Purdue, according to a Lafayette newspaper, Journal & Courier. Coller was hired onto former coach Joe Tiller’s staff in 2000 after some quality years coaching high school football in the West Lafayette-area.

"“I’ve been here a while and it’s time for a new adventure,” Coller told the J&C. “High school teacher and coach and I’ve coached in college, been an administrator in college, maybe it’s time to look into something different from a career standpoint.”"

Considering Purdue assistant coach Donn Landholm has had his defensive coaching duties reduced recently and been given more of a recruiting emphasis, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Landholm taking this spot over. Given that the signing period just ended, this was probably in the works for some time. Coller is employed with the University through June 30.
